Logos on tour at the swiss masters

Swiss Masters Crans Montana July 21 – 24, 2015

Logos on Tour in SwitzerlandThe most popular event of the season, which has been held at this venue since 1972, sees an earlier place in the Tour schedule this year, July instead of late August and temperatures in the high 20s was the reward, amazing scenery and sunshine!

A fairly quiet week generally, although it was good to meet up with Jake Roos for an early 1 – to – 1 study on Wednesday morning where we dwelt on some thoughts from the book of Job …. And along with his caddie we had a get together over dinner on Thursday evening – it has been good to keep the contact with him and I hope to have a game of golf with him over the two free weeks at the beginning of August … Do remember him in your prayers …

Around four years ago at this event one of the courtesy car drivers, Nick, drove me to the railway station and it turned out he was a believer, that was his last year at Crans Montana but we have kept in touch through Facebook and he has been on something of a world tour in recent times, but he came over to the tournament and we met up for a couple of hours … He had a few questions and issues to chat over so it was terrific to meet up with him again and see just what God was doing in his life journey …

Our old friend “the caddie” was in good form and we had yet another in depth conversation about, well everything really … Keep praying for him …

I have long been exercised over the situation Logos are in with the Tour in that we are there by their permission rather than their approval … An incident which occurred this week brought this to mind once again …. One of the players, Michael Lorenzo-Vera, withdrew after 9 holes of the first round, it isn’t all that unusual to see three or four players withdraw during tournaments through injury and the like but Michael got word that his father had died [a sudden death] and so stopped at the ninth when given the news … Mostly you never find out at the time why anyone has retired/withdrawn and the only reason I found out Michael’s reason was because I met his caddie when he and I were leaving Crans Montana on Friday, and he told me why he was leaving early … The Tour produce an internal “competition” sheet every week which has the info everyone needs; travel requirements, all officials and basically everything that all taking part in the event need to know, but I would really like to see a mention of the chaplain, for there is none and although I have no doubt the Tour would have commiserated with Michael I won’t come across him until Denmark in the third week of August and somehow it would seem to me that this is where the role Logos have would be of great benefit to the Tour, and the players/caddies etc  … We have never really pushed any doors in that direction and maybe that’s how God would have it be, but I’d ask for your prayers regards this ….

Next Week; Aberdeen for the Paul Lawrie Match–Play event ..
