Logos on Tour in China

There is always the overwhelming feeling that no one looks forward to going to the Chinese events on the European tour; I don’t know why as there is no; Facebook, Twitter, Google, Messenger, You-tube, the internet is patchy and very few speak much English – sounds ideal to me ….. Add to that this time around the lightning and torrential rain that delayed Shenzhen into a Monday finish and upset everyone’s travel plans >>>> what more could you want? ….

Those who are part of the Tour get to see the deluxe side of China; outstanding hotels, big spending crowds at the event [golf is still an elitist sport in China] and all that goes with the vast finances that is lavished on golf/sport in China …

I’m always keenly aware of the statement of Jesus’ in Matthew 6:24
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.“
The diversity of the economy is stark, when you get the opportunity to wander around the streets, where there is no sense of malevolence among a people of impeccable manners [except when in queue’s, the Chinese word for queue must be, stampede] but an indeterminable perception of poverty …

With the loss of JB Kruger and Jake Roos from the Tour it was good to see Dean Burmeister and his dad [caddying for him] in Beijing and they will be following on to Morocco next week and of course it is always good to meet up with Hennie and we got to meet up separately as Hennie was keen to get into the ‘downtown’ hotels in Shenzhen and Beijing, away from the grandeur of the official hotels …

I have to say this was a disappointing trip, with very little by way of meaty conversation, although I did spend a half hour with our friendly Caddie, always interesting, but really one could get a bit downcast at the contacts, or lack of them made … But, that’s what it was and so we go to next week in Morocco .. This is one of these times when you rely on that common saying; we’re not called to be successful, but faithful …
